Webcam
A horror captured in the aperture!
The story goes as follows:
A high schooler is on the internet while staying at her dad's house when she notices that her mom is online as well. She sends a message and the two exchange a bit of small talk until it's brought up that the mother has recently gotten a webcam for her computer! The two start up a video call and get to chatting, but something catches the daughter's eye not too long after...
There's the dark shape of a person looming in the doorway behind her mother.
The girl asks if anyone else is supposed to be there, and the answer comes as a stomach-sinking negative. She quickly informs her mother of the intruder and advises her to stay calm to keep their knowledge hidden, gently reach for the phone, and call the cops. Rightfully terrified, the mother does her best to maintain her composure and slowly, carefully, starts moving her hand over for the lifeline that lies so near... closer... closer...
SLASH!!!
In the blink of an eye, an icepick is driven through the woman's neck and torn right across, the last clear image fired through the screen before the camera's view is obscured by the fierce splatter of crimson coming from the mother's throat! The assailant only seen as shadows and the world only seen in red from an utterly powerless perspective...
Worse yet, the relaying of this tale is followed by the claim that the exact same shadowy figure from the story will appear behind you and make you its next victim if you don't spread the word within the next five minutes! Of course, for once I do agree that this is nothing more than a scary internet story, so you shouldn't let it get to you too much! Buuuut... maybe keep a weapon by your computer, just in case.
