Apparitions
Your normal, stock-standard ghost.
Apparitions are basically a ghost in physical form. They can take the form of an inanimate object or a living being. An overwhelming majority of reports regard them as harmless, and an slightly smaller majority claim that they are incapable of any physical contact- despite a physical form.
A commonly seen apparition corresponds to the mass allegations of a supernatural apparition of Mary (the religious figure). Sightings were common throughout the 1800’s by the superstitious and religious. This was such a big deal that even the Church had to get involved.
There are no specific places, age groups, or time periods that are particularly abnormal in apparition reports due to it being such a broad topic. It’s pretty much a word that covers a majority of passive supernatural encounters. It can cover seeing Elvis’s ghost to reports of Abraham Lincoln walking the White House.
